Come join our next lunch conversation about language and representation technologies on Wednesday, April 17, at 12pm on the roof of CERAS. We'll talk about questions like:

  • What are language technologies and what's their history?
  • What does it mean for a language to "produce" or "interpret" language?
  • What is "normative" language?
  • How do language technologies intersect with systems that encode preferences about language and dialect? (E.g., "professional" spaces, schools, etc.)
  • How does the business of creating and promoting language technologies operate, and perpetuate "normative" language?

This is meant to be a casual space to gather, share expertise and resources, see each other again, and talk about interesting things over food :)

Please fill out this RSVP form if you plan on attending to help us with ordering food and finding the right space.
