Science, Technology, and Society 2026 Commencement Diploma Ceremony

11:30 A.M. - Stanford's Main Commencement Ceremony ends

12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. Enjoy lite bites and refreshments at the STS Ceremony Site (West Oval Grove)

1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. STS Commencement Diploma Ceremony

NOTE: All STS students walking in the Commencement Diploma Ceremony MUST REGISTER to attend.  If you have not registered, please contact Philip Gilbert at gilberph [at] stanford.edu (gilberph[at]stanford[dot]edu)

Tickets are not required for guests to attend the STS Commencement Diploma Ceremony only.


Important Note: 2026 FIFA World Cup matches begin June 13.

The San Francisco Bay Area will host 6 World Cup matches at nearby Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. One of these matches will coincide with Commencement Weekend. For families visiting from outside the Bay Area, please consider booking your hotel accommodations as soon as possible.  For your convenience, lists including websites of Bay Area hotels by region, are included on the Plan Your Visit page.

STS Diploma Ceremony Guest Speaker Lan Lam

Lan Lam is a Supervising Producer at America's Test Kitchen and the host of the award-winning YouTube show Techniquely. She's also a cast member of both the long-running PBS series America's Test Kitchen and Netflix's In the Test Kitchen. A former Deputy Food Editor at Cook's Illustrated, her work has been nominated for multiple James Beard Awards. An ex-line cook with a chemistry degree from Wesleyan University, she blends hands-on experience with scientific curiosity to develop and teach smarter ways to cook and bake.

Stanford Stadium Commencement Info

Tickets are required for Stanford’s main Commencement ceremony.  Commencement is the main ceremony in Stanford Stadium where all graduating seniors and advanced degree graduates gather from all schools with their families.   Find out more information here: Stanford Commencement

Regalia (Cap & Gown)

Academic attire is required to participate in many Commencement Weekend activities and will be available to rent or purchase from the Stanford Bookstore, along with graduation gifts and announcements. Browse Rental Regalia.

Diplomas

All diplomas will be mailed by the Registrar's Office.  All diplomas are mailed by USPS.  Please allow 6-8 weeks for diploma delivery; international shipping may take more time.  Expedited shipping is also available.  To pay for expedited shipping, students may request this in the Diploma Request Portal.  For more information and to access the Diploma Request Portal see Diplomas

Photography

Stanford policy allows personal filming and photography by individuals on campus so long as:

  • Lights, tripods, and other standing equipment are not used
  • The images are used exclusively for personal non-commercial purposes (i.e., filming and photography on campus for commercial purposes are prohibited)
  • They do not interfere with the operations of the university, the privacy of individuals on campus, and the taking of such photos is consistent with University policies.
