Emily joined the STS team in April 2016 as the Program Associate. Emily earned her B.S. in Ecology (with an emphasis in Ornithology) from San Francisco State University. She has a strong background in the sciences and is especially passionate about our ecological system to include conservation and its effects on plants and animals in our environment. During university, Emily was a student teacher and enjoyed educating and mentoring young students about sustainability through lessons in horticulture and waste reduction. Along with her background in Science, she has experience with Visual Communication and Design work, and now utilizes all her education and passions in her position at STS. Having completed a six-year program with the National Charity League, Emily has worked with many non-profit organizations in the Bay Area and has empathy and willingness to continue to assist those in need. Outside of work, Emily enjoys exploring the outdoors and is an avid hiker and bicycle rider. Her love of people and culture comes in part from traveling to 25+ countries in 5 continents. She spends her free time expressing creativity through photography, bird watching, and skydiving.
