Jessie, daughter of former refugees, is a Cambodian American from Tucson, Arizona. Jessie is a senior this year but remembers how she spent her first two years exploring courses before realizing that many of her classes actually aligned with the STS major. Jessie was drawn to the major because of its flexibility and loves how the STS major allows her to have such a unique lens in which to view the world. Jessie is particularly interested in the way the technology, algorithms, and science are involved in the construction of culture and inequality. At Stanford, Jessie also works at BEAM, the Alumni Center, and the Creative Writing Program. Come talk to her about her love for STS, how to make STS right for you, and anything else that you might have a question about!
